I also tried it with Windows Direct Sound, and there were no distortions. So I changed the WASAPI sound protocol to MME, and the problem was solved. My test consisted of loading a guitar loop (as I see Blindeddie did too) I loaded Guitar Rig as an effect and it had distortions and unpleasant sound even with clean presets (Almost Clean Preset) However, I was concerned with investigating the problem overnight (here in my time zone) and then found your comment. I don't use Guitar Rig in Audacity, mainly because of the latency.
And besides, your sentence "Can't be too hard" ended up breaking all coherence with respect to "new to all this" However, you, although you indicate that you are "new to all this", have already determined that those of us who have answered your request for help with basic advice are pompous. Provide the relevant information to other users in the community for a more accurate analysis of the problem and increase the chances of a satisfactory solution in the most appropriate way.
The basic advice being for all intents and purposes and for most cases the next: I am probably a bad person who tries not to help with the basic advice that comes to mind when someone asks for help. Now that I've read your question carefully, I notice that you only ask for advice.
PS: If you like what you read, then "gime'em a like".Ĭlick to expand.I'm sorry that my answer may have seemed "pompous". What was it that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stated, "Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth." Works for me!! As you state, " Totally new to all this." and thus, using the standalone version will ensure that all of the inbound gear is working as it should - namely, your audio interface. If the standalone version IS working, and you are having issues within the DAW/Host - then, at least, we are getting somewhere. I strongly suggest that you use the standalone version first.
How will the software be used: Standalone | DAW/Host
